Probe description

The LSI 17p11.2 FISH kit is intended for the enumeration of chromosome 17 in human tissues using fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH).
The LSI 17p11.2 FISH kit contains a directly labeled fluorescent DNA probe in hybridization buffer. The fluorochrome Orange or Green labeled probe is targeted to the chromosome 17 subcentromeric region.
The presence of false positive CEP17 signals, caused by non-specific hybridization of centromeric probe or complex karyotype, has been demonstrated.  The 17p11.2 probe is used for the verification of the chromosome 17 copy number which is necessary for exact assessment of the Her-2/neu gene status (cross-hybridization versus polysomy).

FISH result

A normal cell in FFPE tissue hybridized with the LSI 17p11.2 (Orange) shows 2 orange signals of chromosome 17p11.2 region.

Figure1. A normal cell hybridized with the LSI 17p11.2 (Orange). The normal interphase cell in this image shows two orange signals (human lyphocytes).
