Probe description

The LSI 1p36.3 FISH kit is intended for the determination of the 1p36.3 chromosomal region deletion in human tissues using fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH).
The LSI 1p36.3 FISH kit contains a directly labeled fluorescent DNA probe in hybridization buffer. The fluorochrome Orange labeled probe covers the chromosome 1p36.3 region.
The 1p36.3 deletion together with the deletion of the long arm of chromosome 19 (19q13) are strongly correlated with gliomas with oligodendroglial morphology. Combined deletions of 1p and 19q are found in approximately 80–90 % of grade II oligodendrogliomas and in approximately 50–70 % of anaplastic oligodendrogliomas.  Analysis of the 1p36.3 deletion is useful for morphological and genetic diagnostics of malignant tumors with an oligodendroglial component.

FISH results

A normal cell hybridized with the LSI 1p36.3 (Orange) (1a). The cell in this image shows 2 orange signals. An abnormal cell (1b) shows the one orange signal which indicates the 1p36.3 deletion.

A normal cell hybridized with the LSI 1p36.3 (Orange) shows 2 orange signals of chromosome 1p36.3 region. An abnormal cell hybridized with the LSI 1p36.3 (Orange) shows the one orange signal which indicates the loss of chromosome 1p36.3 region.
